Every season, the River Rats search for host families to house our players and coaches during the summer. This experience can be a very rewarding one, particularly to a family with young athletes in the household. Volunteering as a host family also helps us show off New Bern’s reputation for hospitality to the young men who travel from around the country to play for our team.

Of course, host families also assume an important responsibility. Host families are entrusted by both the River Rats and the player’s family to provide essential comfort for the player. It is expected that pleasant interaction will take place between the player and family members, but at the same time, these players are young adults who deserve a place in the house where they can go to rest, relax, or be alone.
