RATS' ALUM RIZZO SETS NEW QUINNIPIAC HITS RECORD;
OTHER RIVER RATS CONTINUE TO IMPRESS

HAMDEN, CT—Quinnipiac senior outfielder Ryan Rizzo, a member of the 2005 River Rats, collected three hits on Saturday for the Bobcats to become the school's co-all-time hits leader.  Rizzo and another teammate entered the day tied for second on the team's all-time hit list and each ended the day with three hits to emerge as the school's co-all-time leaders.

On the season, Rizzo is hitting .330 with eight doubles, two home runs, 14 RBIs and four stolen bases in 22 games.  Rizzo was a college teammate of Buddy Bengel, the River Rats' Vice President of Operations.

Fellow River Rat Chris Gloor, who will be returning to New Bern this summer, got the win in the second game of the Quinnipiac doubleheader to move to 2-0 on the season.  He has a 3.29 ERA in seven appearances, including a team-leading 31 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched and a team-best .189 opposing batting average.

Jonathan Anderson, ‘05-6 River Rats, Duke, senior outfielder and pitcher:
 
At the plate, Anderson is hitting .331, and is second on the team in runs scored (42) and stolen bases (10). On the mound, Jon is 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA in four starts and 14 overall apperances.
 
Michael Antonini, ‘05-6 River Rats, Ga. College & State U., senior pitcher:
 
Michael is 7-3 with a 3.29 ERA in 11 starts for GCSU, including a team-bests in strikeouts (69) and innings pitched (68.1).
 
Patrick Ball, ‘06 River Rats and NBHS, Mt. Olive, sophomore pitcher and infielder:
 
On the mound, Pat is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in 19 relief appearances. He has 26 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched and has limited opposing hitters to a .149 batting average. At the plate, Ball is hitting .308 with a .615 slugging percentage.
 
Jordan Costner, ’05 River Rats, South Carolina, junior pitcher:
 
Jordan is 3-0 with a 0.73 ERA in 10 appearances for South Carolina. He has struck out 10 in 12 innings pitched and is limiting opponents to a .209 batting average.
 
Andrew Cruse, ’05 River Rats, Lakewood BlueClaws (Class A, Philadelphia Phillies), pitcher:
 
In his first week at Class A Lakewood, Cruse has pitched 3.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in three appearances.

Chris is 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA in seven appearances, including a team-leading 31 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched and a team-best .189 opposing batting average.
 
Nick Hall, ’06 River Rats, Washington State, junior catcher:
 
Nick is hitting .385 with one double, one home run, and four RBI in nine games this year.
 
Jon Hollis, ’05 River Rats, Clinton LumberKings (Class A, Texas Rangers), pitcher:
 
In the first week of the season at Class A Clinton, Jon has pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in two appearances, striking out three.

Gino is hitting .278 with 9 RBIs and 3 stolen bases in 27 games played for the Red Storm.
 
Jayson Miller, ’06 River Rats, Washington State, junior pitcher:
 
Jayson is 2-2 with a 2.38 ERA in three starts and 11 total appearances. He has 27 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched and has the team’s only complete game so far this year.
 
Mike Mondesir, ’06 River Rats, Dominican, junior pitcher:
 
Mike is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched.
  
Stephen Read, ’06 River Rats, Missouri-Rolla, X senior pitcher:
 
Stephen is 4-3 with a 2.35 ERA in nine starts this year. He leads the team in wins, starts, innings pitched, and strikeouts.

Matt Sanders, ’06 River Rats, Young Harris, sophomore third baseman:
 
Matt is hitting .347 in 29 games and leads the team in home runs (7), RBIs (48), and extra-base hits (27).
 
Rob Sanzillo, ’06 River Rats, Johns Hopkins, senior catcher:
 
Rob leads the team in batting (.450), home runs (5), slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.563), and stolen bases (12) in 25 games played.
 
Nick Vera, ’06 River Rats, Trinity, senior outfielder:
 
Nick leads the team in batting (.421), home runs (7), RBIs (33), slugging percentage (.762), on-base percentage (.537), and stolen bases (15) in 37 games played.
 
Adam Warren, ’06 River Rats, UNC Chapel Hill, sophomore pitcher:
 
Adam 7-0 on the year and 8-0 in his college career.  His seven wins are tied for best on the team and his 2.13 ERA and .234 opponents batting average are both second-best among the team's starting pitchers.  He has 34 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched and has allowed fewer extra-base hits than any other Carolina starter (four doubles and one home run in seven starts).
 
David Wood, ’05-06 River Rats, Texas State, senior first baseman:
 
David is hitting .373 in 39 games and leads the team in home runs (6), doubles (17) RBIs (46), and slugging percentage (.592).
