RIVER RATS ADD YOUNG CATCHERS MURPHY FROM PRINCETON
AND CLOHOSEY FROM UMASS-LOWELL

NEW BERN, NC—The River Rats added two young catchers to their 2007 roster today, signing Princeton University freshman Jack Murphy and University of Massachusetts-Lowell sophomore Graeme Clohosey.

Murphy, a switch-hitter, is 6-4, 230 lb., and a native of Lakeland, Florida.  In 28 games with the Tigers, he is hitting .263, with four home runs, six doubles, and 18 RBIs.  In high school, Murphy earned four letters in baseball and three in basketball.

“Jack should be a valuable asset to the River Rats this season," said River Rats Vice President of Operations Buddy Bengel.  "Starting as a freshman at Princeton is a great honor.  He is a solid catch-and-throw type guy with a middle-of-the-order type bat.”

Clohosey, a 6-0, 162 lb. accounting major, is a native of Derry, New Hampshire.  In 22 games, he is hitting .229 with eight RBIs.

“Graeme is an excellent receiver and we look forward to having him work with our pitching staff,” Bengel said.  “Playing in a wood-bat conference in college, Graeme will have valuable experience which many first-year Coastal Plain League hitters do not have.”
